Live Bright with Sun Life's LIVE BRIGHTER SESSION

A few days ago, I was given another chance to attend another Sun Life Activity, this time it was for the "Live Brighter Session". I was excited since the speaker for this session is no other than the first ever winner of the hit reality show "Apprentice Asia", Jonathan Yabut, the gathering was set up for bloggers and aspiring financial advisors, to share the story of how he rose from humble beginnings to become a successful businessman and an in-demand motivational speaker.

Yabut, who served as Chief of Staff for AirAisia for a year after winning in the reality show hosted by Malaysian business mogul Tony Fernandes, now runs his very own JY Consultancy & Ventures, which operates in Manila, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore. During the Session, Mr. Yabut told the bloggers and aspiring advisors about the preparations and perseverance that he showed on achieving what he has now, as well he also emphasized the importance of serving a social purpose.

During the Session, he also discussed his principles in life, on how he keeps his to-do list and how he keeps check of his goals and if he is on track on what he planned. he also highlighted the strength of character or GRIT on how he achieved his goals and differentiate working hard versus working smart.

Apart from Yabut, Sun Life Financial advisor JP Cruz also spoke, giving an inside look at his own career, as well as his personal journey, he shared his struggles and how he reached rock bottom in both his finances and his love life, and what he did to overcome the struggle, Cruz interestingly stressed a thought akin to what Yabut emphasized: that is to have a deeper reason for the work one pursues. In his case, Cruz finds it by helping people achieve lifetime financial security.

it was indeed much inspiration that I had felt during the entire Live Brighter session and it also strengthened my eagerness to pursue my dreams and reach my goals, and I can say that becoming a financial advisor could be a possibility that I can take on my career path.
